Insects can perceive a range of light greater than that discernible by man.
Most insects can see ultraviolet light - and many varieties of beatles
can see infrared light.
Iowa has more land under cultivation than any other state -
followed by Texas, Illinois, Kansas, and Minnesota.
Peter Pan was the first English play ever written exclusively for children.
Anna Mary Robertson, "Grandma" Moses (1860-1961), the famous American artist,
did not begin painting full-time until she was in her seventies.
She eventually completed 1,600 paintings.

The theory of immunization, and of smallpox immunization in particular,
was known to Chinese doctors more than seven hundred years before its
discovery in 1796 by the English physician, Edward Jenner.
There is only one state in the United States named after a president -
Washington.
In the mid-sixteenth century, the ruler of Japan ordered that
all the swords in the nation be collected and melted down.
The metal was then used to build a huge statue of Buddha.
Most dinosaurs lived to be more than a hundred years old.

A species of starfish known as Linckia Columbiae can reproduce its entire body -
that is, grow back completely from a single severed piece
less than a half-inch long.
The Nephila spider spins its webs with strands that are more than 20 feet long.

and Christmas tree candles all contained lethal amounts of arsenic.
There are earthworms as short as one-twenty-fifth of an inch -

in the White House, Ruth Cleveland - daughter of President Grover Cleveland.
Paul Revere, famous American patriot, was once court-martialed for cowardice -
but later cleared of all counts.

Daniel Webster, Abraham Lincoln, John Marshall, and Stephen A Douglas,
four of the most famous lawyers the United States has produced,
never attended law school.
Vaslav Nijinsky (1890-1950), the famous Russian ballet dancer,
was able to cross and uncross his legs ten times during a single leap.
Before the Marquis of Queensbury rules for boxing were drawn up in 1867,
all prize fights in England were fought with bare knuckles.
In downtown Lima, Peru, there is a large brass statue dedicated to
Winnie-the-Pooh.

King Henry III of France, Louis XIV of France, and Napoleon
all suffered from ailurophobia - commonly known as fear of cats.
An American, Arnold Bly, was able to inscribe the Lord's Payer on a grain of rice
and to write legibly on a strand of hair.
